Re: Production ''blue water'' boats which has sailed oeans

So which of the current "large" volume production builders are going to willing to sell the OP a hull, deck and rig and let him complete the boat. Ben, Jen, Hun, Cat certainly won't, more than likely the same with EU builders. The pickings will be lean and realistically the supply will be limited to low volume builder offering the you build buyer. Maybe FRP but more likely steel construction.

Think you need to refresh your geography/navigation... there's only one equator.
And.. I'm not sure modern production builders do kit/part builds.. but I could be wrong.
Oh.. and Bene and Jene are EU boats.. with branches in the USA.

With your new qualifiers your choice is almost unlimited. You could purchase one of the Benni Hunters nearly new or something like a used Oyster made from FG. Or buy something in aluminum if your really going to voyage, with your budget you have tons of choices. Do you prefer Centre cockpits or aft cockpits. Do you want lots of privacy from others aboard? How many heads do you need? How long do you plan on owning it before you sell? Are you planning on taking the road less traveled or are you doing the milk run? R

Get a Stevens or Hylas 47, tough, good performing boats built like brick &$@4 houses. Great accommodations for 6 people (three staterooms), eight knot boats, cutter rigged, three good ones on the market right now. See Yacht world. Yes, I own one.

Re: Production ''blue water'' boats which has sailed oeans

HR, Malo, Regina, Oyster, Contest, Discovery, Rustler, etc. are all production boats. And I am not clear what OP is trying to imply.

If you expect a design catering for charter fleet use to be as strong and seaworthy as a boat designed for extended and repeated ocean passages then this is what we call wishful thinking.

Much harm has been done by that CE directive that propagates nonsense like:

"... ‘A’ OCEAN: Designed for extended voyages where conditions may exceed wind force 8 (Beaufort scale) and significant wave heights of 4 m and above but excluding abnormal conditions, and vessels largely self-sufficient. ..."

So now any boat designed to sail in wind force 9 and significant waves of 4.1 m meets this (very lame) standard of being an ocean capable boat.

But this is just our silly wishful thinking, as any experienced sailor knows wind force does hardly any harm to a well found boat while waves of 4 meter are actually quite common plain vanilla stuff for any reasonable craft.

For your reference, a brief 48hrs storm of moderate force 9 will kick up waves up to 9 meters. Play with the toys some:

https://woodshole.er.usgs.gov/projec...h_limited.html

HR and Oyster are production Water boats">blue water boats. Class 'A' Ocean boats may be either these or boats meant for charter use and weekend sailing.

There are many ways to ask a question and one of the ways is meant to draw other people at the forum to unwillingly agree anything floats.

Yes, anything floats.

Cheers,
b.

I think for now on when the "what a blue water boat" questions comes up the stock answer will be a WestSail 32....next....

I mean these one which are from shipyards of mass production , not HR, Discovery etc.

I try to choose some boat and would get some names to choose from.

My plan is to buy just hull, and upgrade to my needs (solars, extra tank, desaltor, etc. In fact just hull and rigging (more or less) I need in length of 44-48 feet.
Ahoi Freshman,
if the "PL" in your address means Poland, why not have a look at your country's boat manufacturers ?

Poland - Boatbuilder, shipyards and boat manufacturers

It seems there are 85 of them in Poland and some are known brands.

Or for the EU masses:
Bavaria, Beneteau, Dehler, Dufour, Jeanneau, X-yachts etc, etc.

You'll find many boats to choose from within your budget in Croatia, Italy and Spain. Seriously consider either a used owner's version 40-44ft catamaran or a used 46-48ft, 18-25 year old Oyster which will take you anywhere. A 52ft Tayana would also be an excellent choice.

Maybe it's time that you got off your arse and quit your cushy annual Caribbean/NYC migration and circumnavigate South America. The women down there are hot and the steaks delicious.

Then your Bene can include the Southern Ocean and Cape Horn in it's CV

If I had $200K to spend on a boat now I would be on a plane to look at this:
