Certainly not sailing the world on your old raceboat -- heck, that's what's keeping you alive! Maybe it'll be your bolt-on keel, your shallow sump, your absence of a dodger or bimini, or . . . I know! No MFD in the cockpit!! Yea, that'll do it!

The only problem is you've been doing it this way for 30 years (according to your blog), so best to keep on doing it. Nice pic, btw.

Say it’s not so, you’re not sailing indoors! I thought everyone sailed indoors now[emoji1]

We have a dodger and several awnings which we select from to put up while sailing in hot sun. The dodger is essential for cruising.

We're not totally stuck in a 30 year time warp. We now place a ruggedized, waterproof, daylight viewable tablet in the cockpit for certain digital information from the instrument system and OpenCPN, including charts, but we'd rather look at the big screen down below for the chart.

Never trust a man who is OK sailing without the wind in his face.

Or a musician who plays sitting down.

Never trust a woman who uses the term "prenup" in her every-day conversation.

Alright now... I'm a musician and I play sitting down pretty much all the time due to spinal and neck nerve damage. 11lb basses don't make it easier, I'll admit, but I'm good for about two medium-length songs standing up before it's time to take a break. On a stool or something to sit on while playing, two or three hours non-stop other than quick beer breaks. Totally trustworthy here .

The only pianists that play standing up tend to work in brothels or sleazy bars... and those would not, in general, rank highly in the trustworthy scale. But perhaps your experience is different!

OK I knew I'd take some flack for that. I don't really mean they have to stand up, it's just an extreme way of saying what kind of energy I like to see from a musician.

SV Melody, I'll make an exception for you, otherwise they have to prove themselves by the music they play.

Mr. Cate, pianists that work in brothels or sleazy bars? That's exactly who I trust will play some wild ass music.

Jerry Lee Lewis set his piano on fire, actually!

The bilge on my Island Packet measures 43"...floor is 15" below waterline...I draw 60"...

I think a64pilot's bilge would measure about the same.

Yeah, but would you trust them with your daughter?

You know, the honesty and ethics of a person have little to do with where they have found work.

Aw come on Fred.... I was only trying to inject a wee bit of humour into a kinda boring thread. I'm sitting in the boarding area in Sydney airport and looking for some amusement...

Of course, we know that your extensive knowledge of the musical entertainment offered at brothels & sleazy bars is strictly based on what you've HEARD, right Jim??
