Another benefit to the PH is shelter from the hot sun. This past Friday had us close all windward windows from the spray coming aboard, but we still had plenty of ventilation so we were comfortable. I'm just not one who finds sitting in hot sun with its reflections off the water particularly enjoyable, having the pilothouse enclosure makes a hot day more enjoyable.
