Q for P26 owners...

What length shaft for outboard motor is required?
I believe the transom is cut down quite a bit to accept the outboard but I’m not certain how much.
Is a 20” shaft sufficient? Is the extra long shaft of 25” better?
Thank you.

Re: Q for P26 owners...

Owned a P26 for 10 years in the 80s. Had both 20 inch and 25 inch engines when I owned the boat. A 20 inch long shaft will work in flat water, but will the prop will spend a lot of time out of the water when powering in any signficant waves. The 25 inch engine was a huge improvement when I replaced the original long shaft engine. If you have a choice, go with a 25 inch extra long shaft with a high thrust prop.
