Question About Feasibility

Hi all. After I retire in a few years, I'm looking at building or buying/modifying a boat for some extensive coastal cruising. I'm just asking for y'all for opinions. This boat will be sloop rigged and singlehanded.

I'm looking for a wood boat (I'm a carpenter/woodworker), 19-21 feet LOA, with roller furled jib and mainsail. The reason I want roller furling is for ease of reefing/sail adjustment when I'm out there by myself. I realize that there are disadvantages to such a setup, but I'm going to be using this boat for coastal crusing only. The longest passage I see this boat making is from florida to Bahamas. It will be tiller steered so I can take advantage of sheet-to-tiller selfsteering.

I'll have a little propane single burner stove, and a couple of small solar panels to keep my handheld gps and radios charged, plus the lighting.

This is pretty much what I have in mind, so far. Any comments? I have NO idea what this will wind up costing. I'm looking for something that will last for years with periodic maintenence that I can do myself.
