Raw water cooling system

Busy getting our Dix 43 ready for launching
Need to connect the raw water cooling system. System comprises yanmar 75 HP turbo (4JH4), gearbox ZF 63 with heat exchanger.
From our research the following seems to be the correct order of connecting:
From seacock to water strainer to water pump">raw water pump to gearbox heat exchanger and finally to yanmar engine heat exchanger.
Can anybody confirm that this is correct or comment
one other item, using a vetus water strainer, and after reading all the forum comments I intend to install the complete strainer above the waterline. Could I be in for any issues regarding suction from the yanmar raw water pump?
TIA

Re: Raw water cooling system

Ideally install the strainer while the boat is in the water, and install it so you can see the water just making it into the strainer, maybe halfway up the basket. The goal being, you can empty out the strainer basket without having to re prime the line. The lines for cooling on the motor and gearbox you have correct.

Re: Raw water cooling system

Also, consider installing a raw water flow detector and alarm. For example, one of these: https://aqualarm.net/cooling-water-f...ce7a42c8af7caa
