RE-powering in the Chesapeake Bay area

I've reached that point: our 45-year old Westerbeke diesel in our Kelly Peterson 44 does at last need to be replaced (ya think?). We are getting ready for some more extended cruising, and want to improve reliability and reduce worries and To Dos.

I'm looking for yard recommendations in the Chesapeake Bay area. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Charlie Hales

Re: RE-powering in the Chesapeake Bay area

Cobb's Marina and Boatyard is a good spot on the Southern Chesapeake in Norfolk.

Since the bay is about 150 miles long and over 30 miles wide in some places an idea of what part of the bay might help.......

Do you know which motor you want for a replacement? The dealers for whichever motor you choose may have suggestions for good installers.

Another person on CF is looking at possibly re-powering a KP44 w/a beta motor. Not certain all the particulars you would need to do, but this link is to a re-power article from their website for a Westerbeke W58.
