When looking at low cost cruising" budgets people need to take into account where that boat "cruises" to.

I suspect my budget would fairly quickly come close to equaling my income.

Indeed. That's why I just wrote: " it really depends on your boat, your location, your crew, and mainly your cruising lifestyle." Low cost cruising is possible, but it involves makes choices, some of which may be hard for some people.

Remember that expenses are what you spend and budget is what you plan
Your expenses for new sails should have been budgeted and set aside for the time when you spend it to pay for those new sails

lot easier for people to make a budget using others people real life expenses than it is just guessing

Could folks kindly post links to other threads that they know about for us newbies? As was stated, it is a lot easier to budget off others expenses than try to create accurate estimates. Thank you to all for sharing data and experience for us new comers. Sincerely.
