Re: Reinell 26' - My first sailboat

Hello. Reinell owner here. I've have a 77 Reinell 22' and am currently refiting a 74 26' Stripped her to the hull and in the process of putting her back together. I'm in central florida. Great boats, I've had the 22' in some pretty rough weather.

Re: Reinell 26' - My first sailboat

I can get you the dimensions for the original 26' mainsail for you. Also, I had a new mainsail for my Reinell 22' made by "super sail makers" in Fort Lauderdale. They did a great job for about $400

Re: Reinell 26' - My First Sailboat

Help! can anyone provide the dimensions for the 26' original ruder? Pictures would be great too. I'm needing to fabricate a rudder from scratch. overall height and length are very important. Thanks alot

Re: Reinell 26' - My First Sailboat

Hello, not sure where to post, but thought some Reinell owners may look here... Does anybody know someone who owns a Reinell sailboat named "Trinity" anchored at the end of the inlet in Port Moody B.C.? It's not anchored anymore, but beached. That 8hp Nissan is looking tempting to a few people I think. I tried to "de-foul" the anchor, to at least keep the boat in one place, but it is jammed with the chain and rope and folded right up.

Someone at Reed Point marina should know something about the boat.

Re: Reinell 26' - My First Sailboat

appreciate your efforts to locate vessel owner, saw ad on CL.
Is there a reg # on vessel? Maybe time to bring in Coast guard or RCMP?

Re: Reinell 26' - My First Sailboat

Couldn't find a number anywhere, no notes in windows. Wanted to board it to have a look inside for papers, but too chicken - boat was standing upright on it's keel last night, not sure how stable it was.
RCMP and Coast Guard won't do anything, we have dealt with this before as there are MANY boats anchored in the inlet since they got kicked out of False Creek, and both authorities say because it is on Port Moody soil, it is up to the city to do something.... Heading down to the beach soon to see where she ended up after high tide last night. Just a shame to see her getting bashed around, she looks like she has been taken good care of in the not too far off past.

Thumbs up for what you are doing. Can you get the rudder dimensions?

Re: Reinell 26' - My First Sailboat

Dano

Attached is a pic of my rudder.

Here are the rough dimensions:

Height: 59" total, and the point where the rudder angles in at a taper (right side in the pic, a couple inches into the beginning of the black portion) is 27" above the bottom. Sorry I didn't write down how high above the bottom the L starts
Lengths (five of them, from top to bottom): 6.25" across at the very top of the rudder (a 2" high step), just below the step is 8" across at the top of the 'neck', 14'' across at the base of the 'neck', just below it's 22" across at the biggest span of the rudder, 16" across at the base.
Widths: 2" wide at the top, 2.5" at the widest point (near the center of the rudder)

The vertical (straight up and down) portions are bottom left and top right, whereas the angled portions are top left and bottom right.

Good luck. Leadbelly is in Marathon as of today.

Re: Reinell 26' - My First Sailboat

Great! I was able to determine the pictures scale when printed and am able to get any measurement from it now. This is a huge help. Have fun in Marathon.

For any future readers: I'll be more than happy to get any pics or dimensions you may need.

Re: Reinell 26' - My First Sailboat

Just curious to know, did you ever get the boat off the beach? I have a Reinell 26 that I have been restoring for awhile now, as it had been beached by the previous owner. They can be fixed, and it is going in the water on Wednesday.

A little off topic, but maybe not TOO far off if I buy it. Would this be your boat by any chance? I am shopping for my first trailer sailer and this one is not far from me and looks very nice to my untrained eye.
