Rudder issues triton 26

Hi does anyone know anything about the rudder on an australian made triton 26 i have been told it needs the bearing replaced or re machined another source told me that there is no bearing
Just a tube with the rod going through it it is an inboard tiller there was some play and slippage
So it does have issues and i was told the rudder could just fall out the bottom is this possible?
