Re: Saraband 40`

Howdy and Welcome Aboard CF!

I did a quick search of the term "Saraband" within the CF Archives, and found no mention of the Saraband 40, but several mentions of a Westsail 32 named "Saraband."

I also did a quick Google search for Saraband 40 and found some info on the Sparkman & Stephens site.

Saraband
Design 1519
Principal Dimensions
LOA 35'-0"
LWL 29'-0"
Beam 8'-6"
Draft 5'-3"
Displacement 14,350 lbs
Ballast 5,800 lbs (outside) 200 lbs (inside)
Sail Area 572 sq ft

"Saraband, a delightful double ended cruiser was built in 1960 at the Hodgdon Yard. The curve down from bow to keel has distinctive S&S shape to it, making for gentle entry and steady sailing. It is a lovely and dependable boat for modest mariners. The design feature most noticeable on this compact yacht is the little after cabin with single bunk and seat and the portside bunk amidships, which allow sleeping space for two guests in addition to spacious accommodation in the main cabin for the owner. Her stem, keel, deadwod and frames were white oak. Decks are canvas on plywood and trim mahogany."

Designer:
Sparkman & Stephens
Year of Design:

Since there may not be any previous discussions here about the Saraband 40, it is your opportunity to describe the boat, and tell us what you see and like in the design.

Enjoy your time on the forum, and good luck on your boat purchase.

Re: Saraband 40`

Is it possible the boat is a Sarabande? There was a French built Sarabande 41 that was reputed to be a very heavy duty boat. The 41 was an extended version with a swim platform added to the 38' original version.
