Schaefer 1100 In Mast Furling System Manual

Hello
I will take possession of a 1998 Cabo Rico Northeast 400 in about a week.
The boat has a Schaefer in mast main furling system.
Sea trial was ok but some difficulty in furling the last 4 ft or so as the sail and foil bound up a bit. There was some friction caused by the wind but not enough to be the major factor.
So I am looking for two things - a manual for the subject system (Schaefer website only refers th boom furling or headsail systems.
Also any CR NE 400 owners who could take a picture of the mast just above the boom to include the gooseneck. Here is mine, with two horizontal holes where something might have been and now missing

Re: Schaefer 1100 In Mast Furling System Manual

Greetings and a belated welcome aboard the CF, Rmcdonough.

Schaefer Marine Manuals & Docs:
https://www.schaefermarine.com/our-p.../manuals-docs/
https://www.deckhardware.com.au/buyi...rling-systems/

It appears that the Schaefer 1100 is a Jib and Genoa Roller Furling System.
https://www.deckhardware.com.au/asse...ers%201100.pdf

Their Boom Furling Systems are: ‘Beta’ & ‘Gamma’.
I, like the OP, didn’t see any “in mast’ products.

Here’s the SELDEN Manual, for in-mast furling mainsail reefing and furling system for TYPE RB Mk II/RC Mk II

Re: Schaefer 1100 In Mast Furling System Manual

First, congrats on buying a Cabo- they are beautiful boats! Second, hunt around for the Cabo owner’s group. Most major brands have an owner’s group, this is a great source of brand-specific issues.

Finally, in mast furling demands the correct boom angle. The best way to do this is to first determine what it is, then mark the vang control line with a whipping. As long as the sail is not blown-out, if the angle is right it should go in and out with ease.

Re: Schaefer 1100 In Mast Furling System Manual

Thank you GordMay and Snore.
Through the Cabo website I was able to get info on the mast mfr and the rigging company that built the rig. There is a Cabo owners group but I don’t do Facebook or Google.
I imagine I will stumble across some owners in the future. Mark Ellis has a CR NE 400 and I have a request working to get to him too.
Great forum!
