Skeg-Mounted Rudders

Hi everybody,

I'm finding boats that have SKEG MOUNTED RUDDER for example:

and

need a 34 - 39 feet!

I know the Pacific seacraft and Valiants but is to expensive to me! Hinckley is ok but there are more boats?

Islander 36 can be had for under $50k asking price. Sceptre 41 (the boat I have) also comes with a skeg rudder. Has anyone ever heard of a skeg rudder falling off?

Bristols too. Last B34s I saw for sale w/skeg hung rudder ran 22.5k-25k in excellent condition. I think the B34 rudder type was dependent on designer and year model, but I need to verify that. I know the Herreshof is....I got one!

Look at Bristol designs here:

Any Bristoleers can comment on that?

And Gulfstars. We looked at a Gulfstar 37 a few years ago and thought it would be a nice boat for coastal cruising.

There's a 75 Gulfstar 41 here in Texas (Lake Texoma) that's 22k but has a lot of blisters on her hull. Broker sez () that everything else is good, but will need a lot of bottom work. Pictures shown on yachtworld. (But not of the bottom of course.)

all calibers have skeg mounted rudders. I have a 33 (really a 34.5) and the newer model is a 35. There are also 38's and 40's. Great boats.
