It cost an absolute fortune and we did some really nice work on her, although I didn't agree with the general concept. The owner just really loved his boat and couldn't see selling her, but felt he couldn't sail her anymore either. Anyone seen her? Probably still in the PNW somewhere, would be an unmistakable vessel. I'd love to see how she looks now.

The Queen returned.

The roll stabilizers were a real pain to install on this boat.

Re: Skookum 53

Hope that doesn't make you Skookum fans too sad, to see one turned into a trawler of sorts.

She is still a beauty, there is no disguising those lines.

Its an abomination! My eyes hurt, now I'm going to have to go and read five chapters of "the sea is for sailing" and say 15 maydays and 25 pan pans just to cleanse the image from mine eyes and soul.

Re: Skookum 53

We did purchase the 81' Skookum 53 "Phoenix Rising" and kept the name. No ceremonial name changes required . She handles well and we have had a chance to push her a bit hard close hauled into 40 knot winds so far.

Looks nice. We now have one round trip from SC to Puerto Rico under our keel and have found the boat to be more than sea worthy.

Headed for Grenada in December, can't wait.

Re: Skookum 53

Just a quick update on the Aysha Nour. We made another successful passage from Little River, SC to Fajardo, PR in Dec 2013. The trip took 11 days and was conducted mostly under sail, nice ride.

The wife and daughter came aboard in Fajardo and we sailed directly to Prickly Bay in Grenada, a 72 hour run. We lived aboard at anchor until June, The daughter attended 2nd Grade in Grenada, a real experience. We were able to take several short trips around the Island and visit as far north as Union Island in the Grenadines.

Early June we departed Grenada for Martinique, yet another great run. After two weeks in Martinique we moved back to Fajardo where the boat currently rests on the hard for hurricane season.

On the return trip from Grenada to Martinique the GPS showed 110 hours of movement time, during that period we ran the main motor 10 hours.

I'll be heading to Fajardo late November to prepare the little ship for a return to Grenada in December, can't wait.

Happy sailing and be well.

Jim

Re: Skookum 53

Friends,

I am 1 week from closing escrow on F/V Pamela a Skookum 53'. (Previously named "Revival")

She is currently powered with a 471 with 4100 on a 2011 rebuild.

Inspections are on the 13th

Dock Street Brokers ::

I would love to speak with the skookum owner that replaced the 471 with an isuzu.

It is my hope to troll her in South East AK and freeze fish along the way for direct marketing.

I would relish any advice related to the vessel

Thanks in Advance,

Dave
