we use skype in the bahamas. we only call landlines/cellphones in the usa. costs about nine cents a minute, which you prepay into your skype account.

bandwidth is all over the place; we found it pretty good in the abacos, pretty bad in the exumas. haven't tried skype video; i'm afraid too many of our friends/relatives would want to come 'visit' us on the boat if they saw what they were missing.

we also buy a batelco phone card. there are batelco phones in some pretty isolated places where internet access is unknown...
