Spindrift 43 information

Hey guys, I am going to look at a Ron Amy Spindrift 43 next week and I am looking for more info. I have pretty much scoured the web and haven't been able to learn much about the vessel construction. Yes, I've looked at the Bumfuzzle blog. lol

Here's what I know.

They were built in the Formosa Yard
They are big heavy boats
This one has an 80 hp Ford Lehman which is an awesome motor
The most common problem was the corrosion of the integral mild steel (called black iron) tanks.

Things I'd like to know:
What is the keel material? Is it integral or bolted?
What are some of the week points on the boat?
What is the layup procedure? Did they use a hopper gun with chopped glass which often leads to blisters?
I have access to the owner's blog where he complains of a bad connection between the rudder post and tiller arm. Is this a common problem.


The current owner recently re rigged the boat and it now has external chainplates. Anything I should look out for there? Should he have consulted a marine architect or does the rigging shop suffice?
