Stability Factor for Oceanis 45

I'm aiming to do the Annapolis to Newport race in the cruising class this June.

Does anyone know the following for a Beneteau Oceanis 45...
  1. the stability factor:
  2. the type of stability factor: (IRC SSSN, STIX, ORR, IMS)
  3. true sistership:
  4. true sistership sail number:
Or, can anyone tell me where I can get this information?

Re: Stability Factor for Oceanis 45

Just in case anyone is looking for it, the OC 45 fully loaded STIX is 36.9 for the roller furling main and shoal draft keel. The A2N race requires a minimum of 32, so I'm in good shape.

Re: Stability Factor for Oceanis 45

The Stix is related with the size of the boat in feet and is not surprising at ll that an Oceanis 45 has a STIX well over the demanded minimum.

Regarding racing the handicap has not to do only with stability but also with other factors. The best place for look at handicaps of new boats that are not normally used to race (in Europe) is on the results of the "Around the Island race" that is not only a race but also a huge feast with all types of boats, including many cruisers (over a 1000 sailing boats for edition).

On a quick look I can find 4 Oceanis 45 but if you look at all recent editions you will probably find more. The rating depends strongly on the sails the boat is using and also on the keel draft.

You have for instance "Monocole" that is already inscribed for next edicion, a 2017 sailboat with a self tacking genoa, the IRC is 1.008.

On the last edition entered several, Vaelis, with an IRC 1.069, probably using a Spi or a geenaker also Woosa, IRC 1.075, Solent Mistress with an IRC 1.056. That's all that participated last year.

If you want more information you can look on the other editions were you will certainly find more Oceanis 45 racing. :
