Swan 411 or 371?

Hi Gang.! I have an opportuni0ty to purchase either a Swan 411 or a Swan 371. There are some good reasons to go with the 371 in that it is closer to home and in pristine shape. But, on a number of post I have heard that the Swan 371 does not sail all that well. I will be sailing on Lake Mi00chi0gan but hope to also do some costal cruising. Can anyone comment on the comparative quality of these boats.Thanks.

I wish I knew more, it's sad to post stuff and get no responses.

Swans are very pretty and have a reputation as excellent albeit high end boats, sort of like Mercedes. My father, who loved walking the docks would always point them out to me when we were sightseeing on docks on our voyages. (Something that used to be a lot easier).

I would say get the one that sails better. If there are legit questions about the 371 then I'd go for the 411.

I've had the pleasure of owning a Nautor 371 "Nordwind" and a Ron Holland design Swan 39 called Silveran Swaen.

As I am over 6' tall, I found the 371 cockpit small for multiple crew, and I would opt for the 41 as she gives a bit more grace in her shear which carry's that wedge deck beautifully.

All great boats either way! How old is the rod rigging? Perkins? Best of luck!
