Tartan 4100 hull core material

I'm wondering if anyone knows what the hull material is made of on the first year Tartan 4100. Ive heard full balsa, and also full balsa only above the water line?

Thanks!

You'll never know unless you take a core sample. Some of their literature says foam, some says balsa. They also claimed to use epoxy resin but changed to polyester without telling anyone. Do some research into the law suits over these issues. I've never seen two the same.

One of my favourites was their use of very thin FRP exhaust tubing for their factory installed bow thruster tubes. I saw one that broke under the weight of the thruster then the the repair guy ( my buddy) kicked ... literally kicked the tube out of the hull

Thanks! That thruster tube is pretty bad. Luckily I don’t have a thruster, so no worries in that area.

Survey in a few weeks so we will see what the moisture is like.

Hope it goes well for you. This might help you understand "moisture" ...

Re: Tartan 4100 hull core material

there is a Tartan group on Facebook that is incredible! tons of knowledge.

Also the factory can probably give you the original build sheet! The joy of owning a Tartan is the high level of support from the factory and other users.
