Tayana 37 owners

I am looking for a Tayana 37 main sail measurement with the sail down setting on the boom. I am making a sail pack and my boat is far away on the hard. Halyard point to boom, back two feet top of sail to boom, back two feet etc... I am trying to join the Tayanas owners group, but would like to get started with my sail pack. Thanks

You can’t be sure from one boat to the next even with the same model. To be safe you should measure your boat not someone else’s.

Looking at the sail pack directions(there a novel idea)I only need a circumference at the highest point and 18" froward of the clew (back of the sail). Use a short peace of line and wrap it around the sail but not the boom.

Your 50’ Bavaria is of no help. But a Tayana 37 will get me started and I can do the finish work after hurricane season is over and we are off to Panama.

Re: Tayana 37 owners

Is the TOG News still active. it seems to have had its own site and then moved to Google Groups. I cant seem to trace it from there.

Cheers

Re: Tayana 37 owner

Yes TOG site is active but Tilsbury is correct in that even between T37’s there are many different variations of rigs and more so in that many have modified them (ie shorten the boom and moved to a smaller main) I would measure yours as even the sailcloth weight will play a role in your stack pack. If you’ve got an old worn out 6oz sail you may find it impossible to fit it over a new crisp heavy cruising sail.
