Tradewind 35 - opinions/information anyone?

Hi all,

I've been looking at the Tradewind 35 as a vessel to take me out in to the wide blue yonder, and like what I see! However, the current manufacturer (Tradewind Yachts) gives scanty information on the history of the design, which I'm interested in. If anyone knows anything about them, has sailed one, has formed an opinion etc. etc. it would be great to hear it. In particular, if anyone knows about the hull layup (a personal obsession!) it would be good to find out. A D/L ratio of 513 (wow!) should indicate a strong hull, but not necessarily... Be interesting to find out about sailing characteristics too...

Thanks!

If you get a sound and clean sample then it is one of the boats that can take you to nearly anywhere.

They are a bit on the heavy side so if you are after fast exhilarating passages then forget it. If you want a boat that will take heavy weather in her stride then you have found one. They sail very well, but the need some breeze to get going.

Down below they are coffin-like - probably because of the doghouse/flush deck design. Not to everybody's tastes, but some will like it. Finish inside varies wildly, some are fantastic others barely acceptable.

Beware there are many executions, maybe the hulls were sold half-made or in more than one boatyard.

If you search the web there ARE (or at least there used to be) quite a good number of sources.

I would buy one if they were within my budget.

Popular in NL and many came from UK.
