Trailer Sailer ICW retirement cruise 2023

Hello

I am Looking for fellow adventurers looking to sail the Intracoastal Water Way Loop in the small boat they have or can build before I leave.

I sail a west wight Potter 19. I live in Austin Texas.

I am thinking of doing a retirement cruise along the Intracoastal water way in 2023.

I've mentioned this several times but now I must get serious about planning.

I plan to start in Port Isabel in May 2023, sail to Port Mansfield to meet the Texas 200, sail with them to Magnolia beach. Then Sail on to Galveston, Clear Lake, Port Aurthur and ports east.

In the Texas 200 this year, the camps were 36 miles apart or so.

I plan to take my time and sail mostly when the wind is right. I'll camp rough when its necessary, but stop in marinas, eat at nice restaurants, and take hot showers where I can.

I plan to do the entire Loop, but probably not all in one year.

Let me know if you are interested.

So help me understand, you want to sail your plan on someone else’s boat? If I read you correctly?

I want to sail on My boat in a fleet of other boats sailing along in a fleet. This would be like the Atlantic Rally to Europe from the Caribbean or The rally the other way in November. It would be a longer version of the Texas 200.

My idea is a group of sailors sail along the ICW over a summer. We could pool resources for sight seeing, we could help each other out when troubles arise.

For instance on the Texas 200, in 2019, I helped a sailor retrieve his boat when it slipped anchor while he slept ashore. In 2017 I picked up a friend of a smaller boat and took them to camp so they could join the party. In 2021, I used tools from fellow Texas 200 cruisers to rebuild my rudder.

I have a small boat. It can only have a couple of crew. We'd run out of things to talk about in a couple of days. A larger party is more fun etcetera.
