Trintella 40

I will be looking for a 40ft or thereabouts cruiser and I like the look of the older Trintella 40 ketch. Anyone out there sail one or know about them. I'd like to get an idea of performance pros and cons etc

Trintella and other van de Stadt are very well thought off....A friend of mine had a 43 and only very old age would seperate them. Normally not many are for sale as owner tend not to part with them. However in these economical times...who knows.

PS I have (new to me) a steel ketch 42 van de Stadt designed ( French built, custom made Lorient) and am very pleased with its performance

Thanks for the comments and link Alan. I expect that in the current economic climate in the UK particularly there may be a few coming up for sale in the next few years.
Some VdS boats as well as Moody, Westerly and a few US and asian boats are on my list.

Always a bit worried about steel, seems to be looked upon as slightly less problematic than ferro concrete however, if the right one came up for sale at the right price (39-45 ft, centre cockpit, ketch or cutter with most of the bells and whistles and prefereably in corten) then it would definitely be considered.
I have driven over to lorient a few times to look at boats, only couple of hours away.
