Twin screws, replacing one 13 inch BW VD transmission with 14 inch. Any concerns?

I have twin Perkins 4.236 with BW Velvet Drive CR2 drop-center transmissions 10-13-000-006. One of the transmissions went out (crunched the output drive orbital gears). Anyways, this 13 inch model is hard to find, so eventually my mechanic was able to get a hold of a 14 inch model (newer version, 10-14-000-006). Same gear ratios, etc. We're about to install it next week. There's room for it to fit between engine and shaft where the old one came out, and he doesn't have any concern that the transmission is an inch longer. But I wanted to ask this audience if having one transmission an inch longer (and therefore that prop/shaft an inch farther out than the other prop/shaft?), if it will make a difference or any other impacts. Thoughts?

Shouldn't be an issue. Worst case, shorten one shaft. The bigger trans has a velvet drive 72c front section instead of a 71c. So it's a stronger trans although the reduction section is still the same.

If it turns out to be a problem, you could make a 1" spacer for the flange on the shorter trans.
