Union 36 Questions

I'm looking at a 1983 Union 36 that's for sale and I'd like to hear from anyone with experience with this type boat (or Hans Christian 36, Mariner Polaris 36, or EO 36). Generally known class problems, pros/cons, good stories/bad stories....any and all info welcome! Haven't talked with the broker or current owner yet - just wanted to be well informed before even considering it.

As far as I can tell it has a wood mast and the teak on the deck has been removed. Perkins 4-108.

My friend had one. The fuel tank leaked. The tank was made from mild steel. To replace it he ended up have to cut apart some of the galley structure, cut the tank into chunks with a grinder, and install a custom stainless steel tank and ended up losing some fuel capacity. He did a nice job epoxying the galley back together but could have easily gone wrong.
