Used or old?

Howdy?! Just a quick general question: I still plan to buy a monohull in a couple of years to live aboard by myself and cruise the world. I have eyes on my dream boat, which of course is way too much $$ for me... Realistically speaking, would you rather buy a brand new 35-40 ft long fiberglass production "regular boat", or an used 45-50 ft long custom aluminum one (like a Garcia or Allures)?
