Re: Using a hank on jib with a roller furling system

Solent and slutter are both good options if you're looking to fly a storm jib or other sail that you aren't furling. If you go the solent route, make sure you keep the top of the stay within an appropriate distance from the top of the mast (I think it's a small percentage of the overall height), otherwise you'll need running backstays.

I decided to go with a ReefRite furler, in part, for this reason. It natively designed to be used with hank-on sails, and ships with their version of these slugs, called Kiwi Slides.
