Utility/VHF handheld mikes for displaying AIS info?

I have the SH wRam Mic. Tiny screen. To better display AIS, I bought a Rasberry Pi computer, installed OpenCPN for free, and the AIS displays on the 10” color display. All in about $300. But unfortunately it’s not daylight viewable nor waterproof. I’m afraid a good cockpit display will cost more than I have invested already. But the radio and mike are terrific and very cool that I was able to take the data via NMEA0183 to the Pi and display it so nicely.

Alternatively, take the NMEA output and send it to WIFI (eg using a Yakker) and then view on OpenCPN on Android tablet or phone.OpenCPN allows one to see actual position of AIS target on chart.
