Here's a blog from a Wauq 38 that has done some serious passages in the last year. The skipper would be happy to communicate with you

Outstanding choice. Identical hull design to the Bristol 38.8. But generally less expensive. Minus points if it has a teak deck due to added maintenance costs and hassle. I assume this one has a center board which gives so much more flexibility with your cruising destinations. This would definitely be on my short list.

We have a Pretorien, which you may want to consider as well, depending on your needs. They are similar boats in many regards. Your needs will most likely dictate which boat appeals to you more.

Both are built to a very high standard, and a good example would serve you well. As Urchin states, teak decks are a big unknown, I would not want to start a planned trip as you mention with them still in place.

And welcome aboard CF!

My dad has a Pretorien, and had a Centurion before that. Both boats were amazing in build quality and strength. They also sailed great, looked great, and were very nice down below. I have been on a few Hood 38s and loved them as well. Ditto on the teak decks.
