I really like the notion of being able to set down without being hauled out. to squeegee the bottom clean easily once every few weeks instead of sanding and re-coating every season seems like a huge overhead saver … plus man they're cavernous compared to what I've been looking at and very inexpensive...

probably no where near as inexpensive as 2k up front with another 10k over 8 years though, that's amazing

was looking at : https://www.yachtworld.com/boats/198...owse%20listing

if only it was on the other side of the atlantic
It takes years of abuse for the splaying to start.. remember the average Centaur is getting on between 40 and 50yrs old and theyre still going strong.
They have done the Transat and well, though with a wife plus two I reckon the 31ftrs are more your cuppa tea.

Re: Westerly Centaur 26

The WOA site has quite a bit of content available to non members including a boat for sail page... https://westerly-owners.co.uk/boats-for-sale/

They also have a North American branch with its own newsletter and stuff.... there are more than a few Westerlys in the US.

Meanwhile.... this is the ultimate* a list of some of what is out there for sale

https://www.theyachtmarket.com/boats...oats/westerly/

* oops.... this is a better site... https://www.yachtworld.co.uk/boats/c.../type/Westerly

Re: Westerly Centaur 26

Any bilge keeled Westerly will happily take the ground each tide, up the beach or in the mud. Watch KTL series 7 for details on him finding a Centaur then taking it up to Shetland and back. While it's no blue water cruiser a good sailor can easily take it most places, at least coastal cruising.

I the 31ish foot range same vintage aa Centaur:

Twin keel, aft cockpit = Berwick
Twin keel, aft cabin = Pentland
Single keel, aft cockpit = Longbow
Single keel, aft cabin = Renown.

I owned a Centaur for almost 30 years. Miss it dearly.
I wanted to find the 36 ft, twin keel, aft cabin, Solway. I looked long and hard, traveled to Grenada and Trinidad. But the two I found were beat up and severely neglected. Still sad I could not find one this side of the pond.
