What Did I Buy!?

I purchased a boat. I purchased it based on it's condition, but more importantly on the condition that my wife liked the interior.

So I found a 1983 Hinterhoeller GT26 that fit the bill perfectly. I figure I'd just go home and find all sorts of info online to help become acquainted with this particular vessel.
Much to my surprise there is little to no information on this little lady online.

Any chance anyone here has any experience/info?

Greatly appreciated if you do.

Thanks

Chris

Re: What Did I Buy!?

It's not a Nonsuch unfortunately. I wish it was, there's quite a bit about them but nothing about the GT26. My boat has a tag saying 001 on it as well. Maybe it's the only one made.

Hinterhoeller's Shark was (I think) 25 feet. But there is an active community with this fast well-regarded boat from a distinguished builder. That may give you a place to start research. Good luck.

I have a Hinterhoeller HR28 and the surveyor just shook his head for two hours muttering "They sure don't build them this way anymore".

Re: What Did I Buy!?

Chris - did you ever find any information about this boat? I found one in Craigslist, in Niceville Florida and am looking for some additional information on it, and was hoping you could share your knowledge.

Thanks much - JD

Re: What Did I Buy!?

Nothing. Its really weird. I've had to put boating aside for the last few weeks due to stupid work obligations. Ironically those obligations juast came to an end Friday.

I can't even tell you hiw the boat behaves yet. I wish I had more.

Let me know how it goes.

Re: What Did I Buy!?

Here is the link to the GT26 I found on Craigslist in Niceville, FLA.

SAILBOAT - Hinterhoeller GT26

I have been playing phone tag with the seller, so I have not learned much about the boat, but as a fellow owner, you may want to drop him a note to see what he knows.

Good luck in your research - JD

Re: What Did I Buy!?

Yeah,

I know, windship, people are doing that. Apparently there are many who don't care how a boat sails, or how she is constructed, and seem disinterested in learning.

.....There's a lot of craziness in the world.

Re: What Did I Buy!?

I still have yet to find anything about this rig.

Any suggestions on how to locate someone who would have been involved in the production in 83?

Ultimately... it really doesnt matter. I love the boat and it's in good shape. It would be interesting however, to speak to other owners and see their setups.

Thanks

Goggle shows some of those boats for sale and a few pictures but not a lot of data:

Re: What Did I Buy!?

Thanks Thomm, I know of that one other boat. I've tried to make contact with the owner. Its for sale in Florida -has been for some time - but no avail.

The two different sites above show the same boat. Its really weird... you'd think the there'd be more in the net. I've gone through endless google pages looking.

My boat is numbered 001. So maybe there were only a couple made.

Re: What Did I Buy!?

Yeah... mine doesnt have a forward berth. Forward of the head is just cupboard space. and just empty in the bow section.

Im so green I dont know the proper name for it.. but I'd like to create an anchor storage area up there. Right now I hang my anchor off the bow and store the rode on deck.

Anyway...
