Re: What sailboat models have a Swim Platform?

Thanks for sharing your experiences w the Catalina. Do you know does the Catalina 32 have an aft sleeping berth large enough for 2 people like the 34? Is the hull speed generally the same or is the 32 much slower. I was looking for a used Catalina from the 80s and 90s but many look sort of beaten up. Do you know how much it would cost to put a 3 blade propeller on? Thanks!

Re: What sailboat models have a Swim Platform?

My experience is limited to the C30 and C42, so really can't help with other models. My wife and I spent up to 3 weeks on our C30 during a club cruise. See www.catalinadirect.com to get an idea for replacement parts, including a 3 blade prop. Besides the sugar scoop transom, the support for Catalinas is probably the main reason I stayed with them for our final boat. The factory support is excellent and Catalina Direct can't be beat. They have a free tech support number and really know these boats. During the first year we owned the C30, I needed a new fuel tank. It was due to improper maintenance by a prior owner where the water heater was replaced and a round head screw from that heater was in contact with the aluminum fuel tank. It slowly wore through and I found fuel in the bilge on a Saturday. The new tank was ordered Monday and installed Friday. I could have fixed the old tank, but not in time for our annual two week coastal cruise.

Re: What sailboat models have a Swim Platform?

Hi
We have just bought a Moody 39CC, 1977 factory built with a Sugar Scoop, to make her a 42. This has a swim platform incorporated in it, which was one of my go to reasons for buying her. There is a great club/page for Moody owners, where you can ask a lot of questions. Swimming Platform was one on our list when we were looking for a yacht.

It's gotten many complements

I had a crazy idea recently that perhaps I could fashion a swim platform that could be removed and mounted vertically to serve as an emergency rudder. Hmmm...

Catalina Yachts website has all the brochures for their legacy models under the archived tab. You need to register for free to use the feature.
