Re: what seize of mast

There is a specific mast that fits the Buccaneer, though you may be able to find a different new or second-hand spar that will work. Details on the length of the spar and other dimensions should be available online. Building a "new" mast, boom and rigging may be expensive. Finding a used Buccaneer mast might be easier and cheaper. The lack of a spar may be a reason the boat you're looking at is so "reasonably" priced.

The boat must be a real bargain if you're willing to buy it without a mast.

Good luck. Call around to some boatyards to see if they have old aluminum masts around.

Re: what seize of mast

There are several Buccaneer boats. Make certain you find the right size mast for your Buccaneer. Is yours the model 295 that was made by Bayliner?

I saw one on craigslist for sale up in Oak Harbor for $2500 ready to sail/race.

Good luck in whatever you do but really do some research before buying a replacement mast otherwise rigging and sails will not fit properly.

Are you going to post here again? If so you might want to post in a different here in the advertisment section and say you want to buy a mast for a Buccaneer and see what your responses are.

If you do seize a mast, it's a lot cheaper than buying one!

a mast and rig for most Bucaneers is worth more than the boat can be sold for. Just a word of caution. Some Bucaneers did use good designs/molds, but the value still isnt there.

Re: what seize of mast

I just bought a new mast for my trimaran it's a 39' stick so it just fit inside a container. All up including delivery it was $14,000.

I would be very hesitant about buying an older used boat without a mast. By the time you get a new one onboard and rigged you very well may have spent multiples of what the boat is worth.

Re: what seize of mast

I scrapped one for the trailer. If you were a couple of months quicker. I gave 450 for it and got 460 for the keel. So my trailer was free except for raising the rollers and some lights. I have saw a few rough ones cheap. Check Craig's list.
