I picked the Catalina simply becauce it's newer which means it'd be easier to get financing and insurance, plus it's got some nice features the Pearson doesn't: stern perch seats, scoop transom/swim platform etc..

What is the reason you feel these are the only two boats? Given we know nothing about you I would say neither. If I had a boat for sale I would be more sure of an alternative. I sure wouldn't like either of them myself and I've known me a lot longer. Picking boats is about you not what other people think. Given the choices, the Catalina 34 mk II would be better for you. Just call it a feeling.
