I kind of like 'giraffe' too, have never seen a boat with the name before...it is only going to cost $85 to get the named changed at this point

Hi, yes, Rothschild is a bit of a tongue twister for a lot of none English speaking people. I'll call my boat "Dragon" after my wife's mother.

and Thanks Mimsy for the suggestion of 'Giraffe' - we were tossing that one around last night as well after unearthing some of the not so cool stuff with the name 'Rothschild'...

I too had to look up the name Rothschild to associate any meaning with it. I wonder if that name has a bad connotation mostly with the less younger crowd? After reading a little bit, I remembered hearing the name a few times. let us know what you decide,
Spencer

Well, I don't know if the connotations are disturbing, but people might think you were rich.

Exactly Mark! What I was thinking as well.

This is what happens when you have a summer like ours with funerals, travel, trying to get a house on the market, fixing up a boat, and buying another...not enough time to do any research...

The name 'Rothschild' is clouded in controversy and conspiracy theory. As well, white-supremacist sites came up when I was searching...no thanks!

So we were driving home from one of the many places we have been this summer and I came up with 'Shazam!' for a boat name, although I did not watch the show in the 70's based on Captain Marvel...but Chris did. So after pulling up some old shows on 'YouTube' last night and watching them...and now knowing that 'Shazam' is an acronym for the Greek Gods this kid would employ to give him advice when he needed counsel, I think it is a perfect name and fun to boot!

So that is the name we are leaning towards at the moment...

Love it! That's a great boat name.

Ya' think RiverRat?!? I don't know...this w/e we threw a few names around and I came up with 'Alchemy' which I know has been done...but I really like what it stands for and maybe it is a bit more austere and cruiser-ly...

But 'Shazam' just makes me smile ever time I say it...

We may have to take a vote here ;0)

Thanks for your input and playing the 'name game'...

Please, NO! It's hard to take people seriously who name their boats like that. Something like "Otter" or "River Otter" would be much bettah.

RiverRat is just my username, not a potential boat name.

What's wrong with Jubilee II?

I agree Rothschild needs to hit the skids. Giraffe isn't bad, but Shazam, if it makes you smile, would be a much better choice. That's why we are happy with Skinny Dippin'. It never needs explaining, it always make people smile (usually followed by a giggle that certainly come from their brain's trip into the way-back machine), and it's impossible to forget.

However, I think it should reflect BOTH of you. Meaning, if you didn't "experience" the original series, perhaps you should keep trying until you find common ground. That's my opinion anyway... One thing that help us was to let the masses on Facebook (our "friends" so to speak) have a say in it. They see us in a different light and have a different take on how we come off as a couple. While we ended up using a name that we (and when I say that... I mean Bess) came up with, the Facebook survey went a long way in letting us rethink a lot of possible candidates.

Good luck.
