Re: Why do monohulls have sails?

One time 44'cc was caught in a storm. Rather than drop sails and turn downwind, he raised his daggerboards and used them as sails!

Re: Why do monohulls have sails?

Over the weekend, 44'cc was racing an oyster. He was easily overtaking the oyster, but the oyster kept tacking into his path. So, 44'cc foiled right over the top of the oyster!

Bravo!!!

Sometimes seems like sense of humor on CF is like common sense...not all that common...

Anyway, suspect there are many of us (and certainly here ) smiling as you return to your primary task at hand...

Re: Why do monohulls have sails?

My turn.

44CC and Chuck Norris were racing against each other - Chuck Norris in his Oyster got to start 10min ahead of 44CC. Chuck Norris ripped the largest fart ever and 44CC used it as a lift to pass him.

Re: Why do monohulls have sails?

LOL!

About the only thing I have in common with Chuck Norris is.... errr.... umm.... well, I can't think of anything.

But really, I do like oysters.

Au naturel, Kilpatrick, and we often do them in tempura batter.... yum!

Re: Why do monohulls have sails?

I motor my mono because I'm afraid if I shut down the engine I won't be able to get my Perkins running again.

Which is a step up from my previous mono, which I d sail because I couldn't keep my Atomic 4 running.

Oops, this is a cat vs mono discussion, not a discussion about different kinds of broken down- wrong thread.

Hmmm, perhaps the better question might have been:

"Why do monohulls have MASTS?"

Re: Why do monohulls have sails?

Why would you sail at three knots when you can motor at seven. On a multihull, however we can sail at seven or more.
Often wondered why keel boats have sails. Decoration?
Most keel boat sailors around our way give up and buy a launch as they get older.
I like poking fun at them
And the one's who hide behind an island and motor when we pass them doing 11 knots to wibdward.

Re: Why do monohulls have sails?

Before commenting, I'm going to wait for someone to ask, Why don't Class A Motorhomes have Spinnakers?"

I know, because they don't carry spinnaker poles and don't want to roll going downwind????

Re: Why do monohulls have sails?

You sail because you love to sail. Mono or multi, it doesn't matter. If your passion is sailing, you'd rather sail at 3 knots than motor at 7. If you don't get that, that's fine, go ahead and motor, but don't criticize those sailors out there that sail.

This thread and this on:

make a nice pair

Two faces of the same bias, on opposite sides. Very funny. I seem to recall that many that posted here protested about the misinformation on the other thread, but this one is a lot older LOL
