Far be it for me to judge anyones choice of sailboat. To me the only sad sailboat or ugly sailboat is a neglected sailboat. Not taken care, ignored.... Somtimes my own judgement in things could be questioned...I would hate to think anyone would think Tivoli is ugly, but they could never say she wasnt cared for...

<I have to go with the Bayliner Buccaneer…>

Ditto -- that ranks way up there with those which catch my eye the least… however, a few years ago I was reading (either in a book, or sailing magazine) an episode that apparently occurred down in the warm-water islands… ostensibly some fairly experienced charterers spotted one of the afore mentioned Buccaneers at anchor and began to comment on its general lack of pleasing lines, the over abundance of portlights, the two-story effect and general absence of nautical aesthetics…

Someone on their vessel (can’t recall if it was another charterer, or paid crew/skipper) who was more familiar with the waters commented something like… “yeah, but they sailed down here on their own boat six months ago and when you head back to work on the weekend, they’ll be heading on towards [somewhere]…” I’ve occasionally thought about that when I am tempted to get condescending with a particularly “rustic” looking boat, that is being actively sailed/lived-aboard – “well, at least they’re out there – who am I to talk sitting here on the dock…”

Any boat that gets folks into sailing is a good boat in my eyes!

We had a Chrysler 30 that was as ugly as it can get, I think...
