Yanmar 4JH3E rubuild recommendations?

Hi,

Can anybody recommend a shop to rebuild a Yanmar 4 jh3e ( 55 hp ) ?

I am in Stuart FL but could pull the engine and transport it anywhere on the US East Coast.

Getting air blow by and it has 8,000 hours.

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Yanmar 4JH3E rubuild recommendations?

For the actual machine work on my 4JH2E, I used a different shop, had a bad experience, then switched over to https://www.facebook.com/NascoAuto/ in Maine, shockingly low prices and all work was to spec and on time vs. their delivery estimate. All of this is rare to find! I'm sure there are good options more local, but these guys are worth a mention.

Their generic price sheet looks pretty reasonable for New England, so if that's any indication of their engine rebuilding prices, might be a good option. They also look to have some pretty good in-house services.

They a lot of diesels from sailboats to fishing trawlers, Yanmar, Volvo, and probably others. The biggest issue is getting time from them. They are very busy. I haven't had them do anything as major as a rebuild but they have always been very knowledgeable and fair for smaller things. The service manager's last name is Niemiec. To me, that says a lot.
