Re: Yard has lost my mast. Transport truck arrives in 44 hours

The yard workers and the Marina secretary figured out who might have taken it and called them...this morning. "Yes I have a boat." Yes I have a mast". yes there IS a label.... Who is A------- S------?"

Oops, wrong brand, wrong size...and they didnt notice.

Amazing!

So happy for you too.

Excellent, sepharad! I, too, am happy for you.

And thanks to the person above who informed me that the mast was tagged.

Mistakes happen, so glad this one could be put right!

Cheers, mate!

Re: Yard has lost my mast. Transport truck arrives in 44 hours

I'm with Jim -- I'd have bet money that you were screwed. And that the yard would have wagged a finger at you for the disaster rather than taking responsibility for it.

By the way, in my case, when the marina gave me the wrong mast the first time, they huffed a bit when I said that I wanted them to open the compound again so that I could bring it back. Their attitude was: why bother? My attitude was: it's somebody's mast, for God sake.

For years I rented space in the shed across from the Alameda Marina harbor office. There was a large aluminum mast up in the rafters, nicely wrapped. Might've been brand new. I guarantee it was still there when they demolished that structure.

Yikes! what a bummer. If it was of average size and new, I would guess $12k and up, depending what was on it. After Sved past away, that whole thing was a cluster.
