Re: Year, make, and model?

Look on the starboard side upper part of the transom for a hull ID number. Nobody is going to be able to tell you what year this boat was manufactured from this photo. That will tell you everything you need to know.

The best I can do is that it's most likely from the 80's and is a production boat, not high-end.

Re: Year, make, and model?

So the hull number is 072585-049379, I am thinking it is an 85, either Beneteau or a Jeanneau both used the toe rail pictured (which I like). I have a friend looking for a project as his first boat, sadly I can’t talk him out of it .
Thank you

Re: Year, make, and model?

Later 1990s or early 2000s as indicated by twin pedestal steering

Re: Year, make, and model?

That was my guess but the hull number indicates differently, the toe rail is the same as I had on my 1990 Beneteau first 285. A great little vessel.

Are you sure that's the HIN? Hull Identification Number? Stamped near the top of the starboard side of the transom? They do usually consist of 12 characters but they're generally alphanumeric. The first three are letters indicating the manufacturer. The last two are digits indicating the year. The stuff in the middle varies by manufacturer. Sometimes there are an additional two letters at the beginning designating country of manufacture.

Yes, that is why I am perplexed, my Jeanneau (FR-SPBNS106J910) also has a separate number 106 indicating the 106th boat produced in this design? I think.

Re: Year, make, and model?

Well that is very strange. You piqued my curiosity though, so I looked the vessel up. I was correct about the build year - 1995. Yet the vessel has no HIN associated with the official documentation data. The number in the last photo you shared is the manufacturer hull number. Here is the scoop from PSIX:
Vessel Name: QUETZALCOATL
Primary Vessel Number: 1137695 (Official Number (U.S.))
Hull Identification Number: N/A
Manufacturer Hull Number: 0725085049379
IMO Number: N/A
Vessel Flag: UNITED STATES
Vessel Call Sign: N/A Service: Recreational
Length: 49.20 ft
Breadth: 15.90 ft
Depth: 8.50 ft
Build Year: 1995
Alternate VINs: N/A
Service Information: Tonnage Information:
Service Status: Active
Out Of Service Date: N/A
Last Removed From Service By: N/A Cargo Authority: N/A
Tonnage:
29 - Simplified, Net Ton
33 - Simplified, Gross Ton

Wow! What is PSIX? Is that the coast guard documented list? Is that an accessible resource? I’ll start looking up production boats from 95
Thanks Pandor

Re: Year, make, and model?

The boat is out of Montauk. Given we have the name, someone on this forum should be able to say where she was built. I believe it is a Jeanneau International 50.
