Thumbs up Your thoughts on our (very) short list...

After 2 entertaining years of search we are down to our short list. Our plans are 6-10 years from Great Lakes to the Med and great circle back to Canada via Grenada beginning in 2018/19. We are 50-ish experienced sailors with Marblehead, Newport-Bermuda and 2015 Transpac + return delivery under my belt. 5100 sea miles & 35 years around the cans must count for something...

We arrived at our shortlist after viewing every conceivable boat of interest-mono and multi- in our budget (boat $US135k total $200k + govt pension) online, in Florida, the northeast and around the Great Lakes . What is important ( beyond seakeeping and the numbers: SA-D, B/D, D/L) to us: Aft cabin w separate shower for long-haul comfort, center cockpit for safety and room to install a Splendide washing machine-after all who wants to lug laundry ashore. That's it...

I am most anxious to hear the full collective wisdom from anyone who cares enough to chime in on our list, alternative options, budget, itinerary, etc.

FYI We seriously considered and personally scrutinized Corbin, Moody, Halberg-Rassey, Amel, PDQ and Prout 38 + Snowgoose, Bene 383/391, Dufour & Delphia 41.

Standing by for your thoughts on our short list: mid 1990s Freedom 45 vs 2000-2001 Bavaria Ocean 40.

Many thanks in advance!

Your short list doesn't seem to fit your wants (center cockpit) and aft master.

One boat I'd recommend looking at is the 56' Sundeer in Ft. Lauderdale on Yachtworld. It's a friends boat, so I'm biased, but at $200k, is a steal of a deal for an amazing offshore boat that will never let you down.

Edit- Just looked and they sold it.
