40 Ft Jensen Catamaran

Hi, I am looking at a 40ft Jenson Catamaran in Western Australia. It needs a bit of work after being on the hard for 10 years. (Nothing Im afraid of!)
The mast is fixed and looks like it was damaged as it is sleeved 8ft up.

It has dagger boards and large rudders. I am wondering if anyone knows this Catamaran and how it would sail in open oceans? The last name the boat had was "Purrversion" on the North West coast of Australia.

If it is a Jensen (sp) they were a reasonable boat well built, I dont think they made a 40, I think they had a 11.3m (37 foot for those have haven't realised that Australia went metric a million years ago) called the coral sea. They cam with a carbon composite mast, which might be a challenge re insurance.

Thanks for your reply. This boat is definitely 12.6 meters and it has a fixed aluminum mast. Have you sailed on Jensen boats before?

I started to like take a look at another boat which is that 16m imp. Design by the same fella Colin Aires. It has a furling main and everything runs back to the cockpit which is great for single handed sailing. It was made in a boat yard in Fremantle in 2002.
Do you know of these boats?

Im super new to all this, i dont the boat you are talking about mate. but i also looked at the Jensen 40 foot you looked at, Tonnes of work involved which iv i would get my head around but its the extra costs plus the time involved, i feel like its better to invest more money in a sailboat that is better maintained. Just depends how much it would cost to refit but apparently the new rigging alone is round 20k, then instal engines, new nav equipment, new solar and batts, re rig the mast and inspect joint and re rivet, new interior lighting and accessories, some glass work need done and that just the larger jobs, then would be alot of small things like new pullies, clutches, window seals, roof lining, floor repairs, new cushions and bedding etc

Is that the one in Cullen Bay NT.?
