40ft Cat on the Hard - Brazil or Caribean?

I have quoted a known shipyard in the south of Brazil to get a 40ft Cat on the hard and they quoted aprox US$ 2000 including out and back in the water, the use of truck and 10 days on the hard.
As we are planning on being in the Caribean by mid Dec 2012, and the work i would like to do is not that urgent, cost wise how does the caribean compare to south brazil as far as above mentioned values are concerned?
Thanks for your comments.

My boat is on the hard in peakes in trinidad and we also had her out in angra dos reis in brazil. We spent 2 years in brazil and I found the rates for per day for anything boat related much higher in brazil than almost anywhere. Also as there are massive import fees so any parts or materials like paint are very expensive in brazil.

We also found the quality of work and availability of high quality trades mich easier to source in peakes and in trinidade in general as compared to brazil.

If you had to get work done there are many quLified places in south brazil but given the choice the caribbean with its proximity to cheap parts in the us would be my choice.

Just my experience others may have had different ones.
