Re: 45ft+ Cat with biggest hardtop

Our 2019 Seawind 1160 Lite. Not a big boat at 38 ft, but the hard top is wonderful (as are the tri-fold doors that rotate up and store in the hard top!) We spent April thru mid-June on her in the Bahamas (Exumas, Eleuthera, Abacos, and briefly the Berry's), and two weeks ago crossed the Gulf of Mexico from Ft Myers, Florida to Freeport, Texas to bring her home. Yamaha 25 hp outboards, 800 watts solar, and sails well with DP GPL Lite Skin (carbon) sails. The hard top is much larger than the one on our Seawind 1000 (33 ft) catamaran. Wonderful in sun, and rain.

Re: 45ft+ Cat with biggest hardtop

Hi Paul,
I just started my sale by owner on my Schionning 50' Waterline 1480 a 52' catamaran. It's a hard top with the helm fully covered on the third level. I'm going to list it on catamaransite.com for all the details in a day or two. Look for Talisker.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: 45ft+ Cat with biggest hardtop

Paul,
I may have the perfect boat for you, depending on your budget.
We have a Catana 58. Catana is arguably the best of the French production cats.
This is the No. 1 hull of the 58s built 2001. We are the 3rd owners and have enjoyed it for 13 years. With great reluctance we are selling her. Not officially on the market yet. If you'd like to know more you can email me on john.midge@bigpond.com

….….I sailed the Perry 43....and the Perry 56...…..for maybe 20,000 miles plus...…..across the equator...….and up and down the Australian Great Barrier Reef...…..and to New Caledonia.........each has a wonderfully shaded cockpit...…...never got a wet backside......or sunburn...…..and the extended cabin roof looks as though it belongs there.....and not an afterthought after it left the factory...….huge space for solar...….

Re: 45ft+ Cat with biggest hardtop

Our boat is for sale and has a huge hardtop that we built for Sun protection. It's an older boat, 40 foot long but 25 feet wide with lots of room and headroom. If you are interested, check out Dances with Dolphins, a Norseman 400 for sale in Fort Pierce Florida.

Re: 45ft+ Cat with biggest hardtop

Most of the big cats have a large hard top but put the helm in a space above it with little sun protection. I grew up in Southern California and exceeded my lifetime allotment of sunshine at an early age. We bought a Manta and sailed it all around the Caribbean for a couple years. The helm is protected from the sun, and the sling seat at the stern gives everyone a great view of where the boat is going. We loved it. It was built for open ocean sailing. I recommend you look at the Manta 42.

Re: 45ft+ Cat with biggest hardtop

I have a custom 55 Malcom Tennant power cat. Fully enclosed bridge for cool and warm cruising. Covered back deck. 2006 completion date. Available when I finish the loop toward the end of year.

Re: 45ft+ Cat with biggest hardtop

Check out Yacht World and look up a Prout 50. The hardtop goes all the way back to the stern and holds 1500 watts of solar power enough to run 2 refers and a large freezer as well as make water every day AND float your batteries by noon. Price was just reduced as well.
