A rotating rig and insurance.

Hey all,
Hope you can help.
We’ve been looking for our own cat for a while after sharing one for the last 5 years, and thought we’d found it.
Unfortunately, when we applied for insurance this afternoon, the company declined to cover the rig, due to the fact it is a rotating mast. The mast is I believe only 8 years old. Standing rig the same.
This throws up a few questions.
If an insurance company won’t cover it, should I be trusting my families wellbeing on it?
Can I change the company’s mind by suggesting say, annual rig checks or similar?
Should this be a deal breaker?
The vessel is 40 ft and weighs in around 6 tons.
Area of cruise would be coastal Australia and maybe a few offshore trips later.
Any help hugely appreciated.

Re: A rotating rig and insurance.

Didn't used to have trouble with my old Seawind 31, but that was some time ago and only valued about 10% of what you are looking at I imagine.
Did have trouble when making enquiries more recently about insuring an Oram cat that I was looking at... Pantaenius said they wouldn't insure any boat with a rotating rig, but I can't stand their overbearing, holier-than-thou approach anyhow. Sorry, I can't remember who did quote though, I think at the time they were the only ones who wouldn't do it.
