allures c 47,9

Seems like Allures is entering the cat business ,the exterior reminds me a bit of the outremer 45,and the hulls looks slim ,pherhaps it will be the fastest alucat so far? anyway this will be a intresting project to follow

C 47.9 : un cata en alu

Displacement 1200 kg? I'm probably not reading that right. It looks extremely similar to the O45

Displacement is 12 Tonne. (according to the allures website).

Not surprising that it looks Outremer like, both yards are owned by the same company.

If it is alloy it can be a cracker! I like the lines. Looks sexy in the draft.

When can we see the proto?

I have been on an Allures mono. Like Ovni, just better yet.

Compared to 8,7 for the O45! Or am I missing something ?

I looked up Alubat. They are getting one ready too for this summer. So that Alluring thing will have a fine company:

Now here is a good case for Allures use of aluminum hulls and fiberglass decks/cabin. It seems like the perfect mix of materials here. I'm very excited to see what they can do here.

Matt,

Why is this mix perfect?

I would think wherever there is a link, there can be a weakness and there WILL be a leak one day.

Just thinking aloud. I would assume a welded alloy monocoque design could be more perfect.

???

BTW They may after all make it 100% alloy - the website does not state it is a composite job (or does it?).

That has my vote as well.

However, Allures has produced some great value monohulls.

Garcia yachts are fitted out at the same factory as Allures, and they have offered aluminium cats for some time.

Re: allures c 47,9

You must be aware the old and the new Garcia have nothing in common except the name.

I have seen one of the new Garcias up close (outside, not inside). I did not like very many things. I would not buy one at all (not that I can afford one).

I have seen old Garcias during our big trip. They were quite a different thing back then - not sure who made those but they were on par with Dutch metal boat building.

These are the times we are living in though. Unless one gets a custom thing from (Hoek?) we have to do with boats built to the standards that please most of us these days.

I am looking forward to seeing any of them down here - maybe not this year, but possibly with the 2019 ARC.

I think an alloy, or an alloy composite cat, is THE ultimate cruising toy.

Cheers,
b.

I think all the production boat builders including some of the more specialised builders such as HR, Amel, Oyster and Garcia are employing more cost cutting measures than was evident a decade or so ago.

At Garcia the most important component, the aluminium hull, is produced at the same factory with a similar standard to the Garcias of old. However, they now use a fiberglass roof. This is a much smaller area than the cheaper Allures (where most of the deck is fibreglass), but I still think it is less desirable than a totally welded aluminium monocoque.

Re: allures c 47,9

Yep. Some formerly decent yards went to such measures to survive in this saturated market.

Now looking at that Ovni link I notice she is 48' long. I thought for some odd reason both cats were more like 40'.

Re: allures c 47,9

I haven't looked at the Outremer, so I'm not sure how they stack up, but to me that looks like a tiny galley on a boat that size. There's not much counter space, especially when that table is set for six. Am I totally off base with that? Or is it really small?

I would say. It is more than sufficient for a couple and the occasional guests.

And it is really fast.

Cheers
Rob

Test sail on O45 in LGM with Code D. Wind speed 18 knots true. Boat speed 13 knots.
