Can do the same:

Lagoon 380...

Seawind:

Ok, here’s a new Lagoon 40 galley

And here’s the older smaller galley down Lagoon 37

And once again the Seawind 1160 galley down

The Newer Lagoon 400 galley up is significantly smaller than the older Lagoon 37 galley down and minuscule compared to the Seawind 1160 galley down. But at least you have a place to put a dish strainer on the Lagoon 400 where as on the Lagoon 38 I guess the dish strainer is placed on the stove?
Different strokes for different folks

I like the Seawind cats. But it is not fair to do comparisons like that. The former leader of the free world would call that "fake news"...

And again... a very crapy photo from the L40 and a very nice one (sales briochure?) from the 1160...

Just not fair!

The photo you posted from the L40 is taken from an official Lagoon marketing website?

I doubt it!

The marketing quote was a joke, the difference in size between the galleys of the Lagoon 400, Lagoon 380 and the Seawind 1160 is not a joke. Been on all 3 and my wife agrees, galley down on the Seawind is much larger and many times more workable than the other two.

Re: Anyone sail a Bene Excess cat?

That is a fair, though biased, statement and ok...

Your 1 to 1 picture comparison just not!

Are these a better non marketing representation of the Seawind 1160 galley?

Re: Anyone sail a Bene Excess cat?

interesting debate between galley size up / down, but there is another aspect of the gally up which we cannot abide

this is that (in order not to block the view) the fridges are invariably at floor level, and rather deep. this means getting on your hands and knees to rummage around like a ferret.

we find our eye level vertical domestic-style fridge much easier to live with...

cheers,

you joking right ?

L400 and S1190 regarding size are totally different world. S1190 nice boat but is really coastal cruiser. L400 is ocean boat you can safely load enough stuff for world cruise.

Here are comments galey down from my wife

- smell while cooking and after cant get rid of easily
- she gets seasick below
- one side view vs 360 view

The photos were of the 1160 not the 1190 and the 1160’s have done many ocean crossings so your statement of them being coastal cruisers is incorrect.
Galley up or galley down is a personal choice. The photos were to show the differences in galley size between galley up and galley down in a given size cat.
How many galley down cats have you owned?

Sorry, sure cn do oceans. I meant cant really carry comfortably weight for say 20 day passage and all that comes with such trip. L380 can do this well. But sure can do 6 days. We owned Seawind 1000 many years ago. It did have quite big kitchen and nice fridge for its size. But when boss speaks out, I listen.
