Shipping for a boat that size would be 10.5k - I just priced it two weeks ago for my own. From St. Thomas to either Gib or Southampton.

Re: Atlantic Delivery

Strange boaty has decided to head for the Azores. He may feel the southern route to maderia hasn't enough wind. Be interesting to see what he does.

Of course it could just be that barmaid he fancies

Re: Atlantic Delivery

I think he may simply be trying to get more northing in before the High to the northwest of his position slides east, and the winds clock around, forcing him to bear off to a more easterly course.

Does look like the trades are moving north next week. Maybe he's going to sit it out in the Azores

However given the abrupt course change , he's either been headed locally or there now a reason to hit the Azores

Re: Atlantic Delivery

he may be trying to gain a bit of height,so as to have a better angle against the north easterlies predicted next week.

though he would probably benefit from a short stop in horta till the Ne'lies pass, and allow a better prediction for favourable winds through the straights of gib.

with 2 fronts coming through, and roughly 3 days sailing to horta, and strongish NW winds we may see him running off if he cant get in in time to avoid these fast movig troughs.

Yep should be interesting.

Sure seems like a safe call to try to get to the Azores to try for a window to Gib instead of taking what comes. The weather this season around Ireland and South has been horrendous...

Re: Atlantic Delivery

Well my guess he's in a bit of a stink today. Last report yesterday was 33 / -38 . So
that puts him guessin in the weather zone today 25-30knts from the NNW. Not sure he will ride that to Madeira or try slip into Azores.

Re: Atlantic Delivery

Is it just the way I'm reading that spot page or has he not transmitted in over 24 hours? Before yesterday the reporting was very regular. Now it's stopped.
