If so, throw it out. Those little solid state things are hopelessly unreliable. It will let you down at a bad moment.
Yes it is, They are unreliable if they are not filtered first, They are very prone to getting blocked,
Mine is connected after the two filters, I also have spares, Just in case,

Sorry mate, but I gotta say it.... You are living dangerously.

Are you going to swap it halfway into the marina when the engine fails?

Or as you are bashing into a headwind from a lee shore?

That sort of equipment has no place on a boat, particularly in such a critical role.

The electronics WILL fail and they WILL fail at a really bad moment. For goodness sake, replace it with something marine rated and specced for the job. Keep the spares for transfer pumps.

Its exactly the same pump that came standard on the westerbeke as OEM except its not painted red,
That one has done about 40 hours so far and hasnt missed a beat,
Another one I had continuously running for 3 days to get the crap out of my tanks never missed a beat either,

Ummm... really?

Bloody glad I own a Beta then. [emoji846]

So, did you buy the genuine Facet brand or a fleebay clone? (The Facet seems to cost around US$90, or about AU$160). Fleebay clones cost around AU$20 and have a commensurate life expectancy.

Re: Back in the drink,

Not trying to pick on you or anything, but you’ve had enough sailing dramas to last a lifetime so far, it would be a shame to add more.

I do realise that, Mate, Thanks,

My Westerbeke is a Mitsubishi engine, I put Mitsubishi parts on it, Its a quarter of the cost of Westerbeke,

What is the actual make of your Beta Engine,
Do Beta make the engine or just the marinised parts on it, ???????

My Beta is just a Kubota with very smart marinisation. Beta don’t even make the gearbox, mainly they bolt on a water pump">raw water pump, a very neat combination heat-exchanger/exhaust manifold and some very tidy plumbing. It’s very well thought out.

Re: Back in the drink,

Took my boat out for a sail with my new Girl to see if she liked sailing,
She has never been on a boat before, Wind was constant at 20 knots,
Was putting along at between 8 and 9 knots on the Genoa only,
My boat gets up and goes with a good wind,
She loved it,
I was going to put up a short video of it, But its not allowed,
So you miss out,
Its on Facebook, Gemini Catamarans and sailing singles,
Dont know why its not allowed on here,

Re: Back in the drink,

I also took my new girl for a sail yesterday.

She didn’t grumble or complain, she stayed in her place and pulled her weight when needed. Just what I expected from her really.

I didn’t take a video, but I do have a photo from when she first met my boat....

Seriously though, there should be no problem adding a video. Are you using the web site or the app?

Reliabilty with a new Donk, How many horsies in that one, That should give you plenty of trouble free cruising miles,

Mange attachments, like I usually do, But it wont share a video,
No idea on web site or app,

Sounds like you are using the web version. I’ve found that one a bit picky about video formats. If in doubt, put the video up on YouTube and just link to it there.

Or get the app and post from your phone/tablet/phablet.

But seriously, taking a newbie sailor out in 20 knots is probably asking for trouble of some sort. I like to introduce noobs at about ten to twelve knots.

50 shiny red horses. And reliability will be a certainty, thanks in part to having a consultant perfectionist mechanic on tap.

It will have to be, he’s costing me a fortune in oil.

Re: Back in the drink,

Just did seven days in Bass Strait with my new Girl,
Left Westernport Bay 10-00 am Sat, Down around Wilsons Prom, Then up to Port Albert for the night, Then across to Port Franklin,
Port Franklin is a PITA to get into except on a high tide and you still run aground,

The channel is very narrow and follows a creek, Stayed the night tied to the pier,
Corner Inlet, I anchored for two nights to try out my new home made 24 KG anchor,
First night was sleepless, Not sure whether my 24 KG anchor would hold, The GPS was moving around a lot, But I was the same distance from the green piling, So I knew I wasnt dragging,
Problem with my new anchor, Its hard to get it to release, It burrows in deeply,
Thats a problem I can live with, It holds in 20 knots of wind,
Then we sailed down the east coast of Wilsons Prom,
10 knots on the Genoa and 3 metre waves on the nose, My girl didnt like the pounding, Neither did I, but we needed to get down to and into Sealors cove for the night,
Great spot, Sealors cove, We got a small shark and two Parrot fish for tea,
A cruising motor boat stayed for the night there also,
They gave us the weather report for the next two days, Very bad in Bass Strait,
So we headed down to Refuge bay for the next night till the bad weather passed,
It was dead calm in Refuge Bay, I was in the northern part and out of the wind and waves,
Then we went down around Wilsons Prom again, No wind but about 3 metre rollers, Pleasant trip home up the eastern side of Wilsons Prom,
Came in thru Westernport bay heads at about 11-00 Pm, with the high tide running in,
Western port was like Glass, I was doing about 10 knots coming past the channel markers with the full tide running and 6 knots on the Motor,
Tied up at Yaringa at 3-30 AM Sat morning,

My new anchor has proven itself, It dont let go, It stands the boat on its nose at 2 knots setting it, It bangs the boat as it grabs the bottom,

Made myself a new Bowspit and anchor stopper for the chain,
I will have two anchors on the front in their own Bowspits,
The 40 KG for bad weather and the 24 KG for every day use,
My new Girl loved the trip and the living on the boat,

Cheers, Brian,
