Balance 526 and more in Port Townsend

I’m in Port Townsend , Washington now and couldn’t believe that the new B526 is here. I heard that it was in the sound and here I am underneath it.

This boat was on our dock up here in Blaine for about 3 weeks. We were all taking pictures. The owners are very nice and let a friend of mine tour it. It sure brightened up the dock!

Damn, I love this boat and think I've watched every YouTube video of its build/launch.

Other than the price (guessing somewhere around $2M), what are the drawbacks of this catamaran as a blue water cruiser for a couple? It seems so well thought out and finished to a high level. My only fear is that it is such a high performance machine that we would never use it to its potential.

Where are the final homes for these craft? I've seen the 526 @ Miami, would love to see it again, but have never been near a Freydis, would love to see that in person.

Did he comment on the Versahelm? Curious if it is as useful in "real sailing conditions" as it appears in the walk-through videos.

No I'm sorry he didn't. The conversation revolved around their business (IT) and how they had the boat set up for work no matter where they were.

Yea, Edwin (and his spouse) has a pretty detailed blog of what they put in the boat and why.

Yes. I like the fresh air, so I am an 80% "up", but some of the other owners are 80% "down".

Re: Balance 526 and more in Port Townsend

I spoke with the Freydis owner. He said he bought the boat in Tahiti and sailed it to Hawaii. He's planning on going back to Hawaii in September sometime. He will stay in PT until then. It has keels btw. He said you could go boards or keels with those. He claims it weighs only 15,500 pounds. That's a light boat!

He also said he knows the B526 owner and he thinks it will be kept in Seattle maybe Shilshole. It has a Seattle hailing port. That boat has a vinyl wrap and the sides got scuffed up from a lift. Was it freighted from SA? I think he's waiting on wrap repair from a wrap outfit in Seattle. Also a good bump on the bow and a few minor bumps on one side. There's nobody there and no work being done yet.

The Leopard 45 has a Bremerton hailing port. I saw a worker doing something in the cockpit. This one has a full enclosure on the front cockpit as well as the back. The L45 and the B526 both have 2 piece masts btw. I saw a smaller new FP or Lagoon at a boat show and it was spliced as well. I think more companies are going this way for ease of shipping. Freight is probably cheaper than yacht transport.

No. It was sailed from SA to Miami (for the boat show) then onto Fort Lauderdale.

They had planned to sail her through the Canal and onto Seattle this summer but all hell broke loose so they put her on a ship instead and had her delivered.
